"If you choose to vanish you probably won't be found" are the haunting early words in Madagascar. In one hotel room overlooking the Spanish steps in Rome, three Americans find themselves alone in three different periods of time. What ensues is a taut and challenging drama about purity and ideals. The disappearance of a loved one connects this sorrowful trio as each individual story of how and why they are here comes to light. The characters' stories weave back and forth contradicting, clarifying, and deepening the resonance of each as they unfold. This powerful new voice in the American theatre promises to deliver maximum impact in our intimate theatre.

J.T. Rogers is the author of White People (L.A. Drama Critics Circle and Barrymore Award nominee for best play of the year), Seeing the Elephant (Kesselring Prize and American Theatre Critics Association nominee for best new American play), Murmuring in a Dead Tongue, Frankfurt, and other plays. His works have been seen at the Philadelphia Theatre Company, Salt Lake Acting Company, New Actors Union Theatre (Moscow), Acme Acting Company (Miami), and frequently at The Next Stage (New York City). Mr. Rogers is currently under a commission from the Salt Lake Acting Company. He has been a guest artist at Truman State University and lectured at the North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Utah's schools of drama, and at the Claremont-McKenna School of Economics. J. T. Rogers' most recent play The Overwhelming, in which an American family who arrive in Kigali, Rwanda, in early 1994, must confront life-and-death realities of the Rwandan Genocide, had its world première at the Cottesloe Theatre, Royal National Theatre, London, in May 2006. The Roundabout Theatre company will present the American premiere of J.T. Rogers' The Overwhelming, on October 23, 2007. Mr. Rogers lives in Brooklyn.
